Washington, D.C. — Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05), chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, today released the following statement after Islamic State attacks on Indonesia.

“I was deeply saddened and disturbed to hear the reports of the Islamic State’s terrorist attack this morning in Jakarta, Indonesia.  The attacks were the deplorable acts of cowardice that we have come to associate with this brutal terrorist group.  I support continued U.S. resolve to work with Indonesia in its efforts to prevent terroristic attacks against their population.  These attacks demonstrate the need for the United States to lead our allies and take decisive action to destroy this network of terrorism that harms peaceful citizens around the world.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Indonesia.”
