Bill to End Neglected Tropical Diseases Marked Up in Foreign Affairs Committee
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05), chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, today released the following statement after a bill he cosponsored, H.R. 1797, the End Neglected Tropical Diseases Act, was passed by the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
“For too long have we turned a blind eye to tropical diseases that kill thousands annually. Under this bill, of which I am an original cosponsor, we will expand the U.S. Agency for International Development’s ability to implement programs designed to save lives by adding these tropical diseases to the list of ailments our agencies fight abroad, we’ll be doing our part to help developing nations achieve success.”
Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. He is also a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
